In Feb:
Finished up my internship.
Marked it with drinks @ Balaclava
and as a treat...
went off to taiwan with cm for a good 8days and had lots of fun taking in the sights and smells.
oh yes, Fun Taiwan!
Shan't blog in detail... just bits and pieces of what i thought was the best!
Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall during Cherry Blossom Season..where the sakuras were in full bloom.
Taipei 101
Shihlin Night Market with their xxl fried chicken cutlet
Took the train up to Taroko Gorge
Took photos of cm while waiting for the train.
hehehe. i still think he's sooo cute! ahahaha! **blushblush!**
after quite a long train ride... finally we see Taroko Gorge
and witnessed the amazing landscape along 九曲洞
Stayed at 2 lovely resorts..
Promised Land Resort, complete with its own river, mini boats and all
and the Royal Chihben Spa Hotel! complete with your own personal hot spring bath as the water that flows through the tap is spring water.
Had ice cream from Cold Stone at Dream Mall in Kaoshiung,
and also the first of my many other 1 litres of yakult.
Visited the humongous Fo Guang Shan Monastery
and then to Liuhe Night Market! where it was food food and more food.
our tar-pau~
at one of the shops, they were selling exotic pets!
snakes and lizards are soo yesterday..
how would you like a pet pig or your own raccoon replacing that chihuahua in your handbag?
Went to Wenwu Temple, that overlooks the magnificent Sun Moon Lake..
love the colors...
observation deck!
a lazy afternoon river cruise..
and then to Jiuzu for more cherry blossoms and lavender!!
the calming scent of lavender was in the air! it was amazing.
and to wrap up yet another day - it was another night market session but this time at Fengjia Night Market
Cm chanced upon a money-making idea (time-check: back in taiwan in feb) then, we talked about executing it maybe at some bazaars and what not and now, forgot about it for awhile and then we see the Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks (the people who brought you the first xxl chicken cutlet store) in Singapore selling it in June - sweet potato fritters topped with a light dusting of sour plum powder. It's a limited edition kinda offering on its menu now, and if it does well to make it a permanent item on the menu, i will stab myself with a pen.
My fave braised eggs!
Also visited the Leofoo Village (theme park+zoo)
conquered all the rides..
and Shihlin Park for their Rose Garden exhibit.
There's also Wu Fen Pu where i got ripped off.
3 tops for $120. not TWD, SGD hor! it was o.u.c.h lo. so expensive and still no paper bag! lol
In March:
Had our very first potluck session.. which could very well be the last as the boys cant cook for nuts)
*collage courtesy of shing, i had to rip as she didn't see the need to *ahem* send us pictures*
We (together with cm) celebrated our birthdays at Pan Pac Orchard..
and had a birthday dinner with my loves at Pearl River!
Of course i must take this opportunity to thank Shing Fangyi and Ernest for the lovely gifts. however late this entry is..
March also marked my quest to become a domestic goddess.. (my official quest)
In April:
Went prawning for the first time with Fangyi and all! with my sis and Shing's sis in tow.. that makes a grand total of 7. all in 1 car.
Was it fun? Err, alright.
Did I contribute to the catch? Errr, no!
but it helps that i drove them there! i don catch the prawns, i drive them home! contribute indirectly!
Attended 2 World Gourmet Summit Dinners (David Rocco and Bob Blumer's) thanks to work. Had loads of fun and it was a great eye-opener!
Loved the soup at David Rocco's Dinner
and the presentation of the dishes at Bob Blumer's dinner!
The oh-so-cute Flower Pot Salad, served in real flowerpots! with a sprinkling of "dirt" by the side and salad dressing served in a mini watering can!
Beef cup-cakes - Beef cheek cup cakes with beet-dyed mash potatoes!
and my favourite! the sweets! Looks like something served out of breakfast right? the usual bacon and eggs served with ketchup at the side...
but no, this is the Eggestential Egg - a white chocolate mousse with frozen passion fruit center!
when you cut off the top of the egg....
*tadaa~*sheer bliss.
I'm so going to attempt this recipe one day.
So with that as the last event, i finished up with work at D... which was one of my best experiences, ever......had drinks @ Mimolette! Last time i'll be seeing these people, until the next one that is..
and then it's back to good ol Lancome..for May and June!
In May:
Malaka + Kota Tinggi trip with the coolest bunch of colleagues ever!
Very over-decorated trishaws..
Our ride...
Push-cart Sushi, anyone?
Malaka, though a tad over-commercialised, was still a very quaint little town. with loads of good sights and very good food.
Yep, Peranakan influence is very strong in this town. even more so after the filming of Singapore's very own drama serial 'The Little Nyonya'
Went to check out Gempak Astro!
and caught sight of a beauuuutiful sunset.
It was makan makan and makan all day and night.
famous chicken rice balls.
nyonya kueh kueh.
Chendol..
just lovely.
Cm and i finally bought a dslr camera, and tested it on cute Mocha!
and then it's Lancome Lancome Lancome for the rest of the month.
23 days at taka for May. bless my poor tiredandsmelly feet.
and then there was Graduation.
then June went by just like that..
nothing much in June really. Just more lancome (22days!) and had another at home dinner with shing, fangyi and cm to celebrate Ernie's POP!
and now it's officially July!
School's starting on the 20th.. 2 weeks to go.
it's time to have a bit of fun, catch up with friends, nuah around, read more books and spend more time with cm before we both get swamped with uni life.
Here's to a good July and maybe more frequent updates!
xoxo
